I have identified a new rhetorical technique, which I name the Friedman Gambit in honor of its inventor. Its beauty lies in its simplicity—just one simple phrase you throw at your opponent when you have run out of arguments:

Catching up on my /. I came across an entry that I just couldn’t make sense of. Only on the third attempt did I realize that I had misread, and that the IFPI is indeed the International Federation of Phonographic, not Pornographic, Industries.
